Good afternoon to all...
X5 E53 diesel RHD UK vehicle..
the interior blowers are playing up.
sometimes the fan will fire up as ignition key is turned to start the vehicle & run/blow properly.
Some times the fan will give a puff for a second, wait 2 seconds then puff again a few times & eventually run continuously as normal,
& sometimes not come on at all...
Needless to say, when the outside temps are 25'+... i need the AC running ..
I have swapped a couple of hedgehog regulators over the years, but never had one do this...
Any body got any ideas ?
regards to all

Hedgehog again would be my first stab as the fan speeds are controlled via it. There’s a recent thread on here on what else to look at including the AC control panel itself. It’s an all in one module.
One thing that came from the other thread was to only use genuine hedgehogs as the copy parts are unreliable or just don’t work (some after an hour).

Hi Richard,
I hope you are well Sir.. long time no speak.
I have a few question to pop your way some time & will PM you - re Landrover Freelanders & which use a decent engine/box (poss BMW engines), as I fancy a change of vehicle & pondering a 2.2D freelander....
yes.. re hedgehogs... these things are a sodding nuisance.
I recently fitted this OEM hedgehog & dead fan issue resolved itself 6 months ago...
Maybe this hedgehog has also died.
I will get hot & smelly again later & swap out another..
I've never had one work intermittently like this before tho.
Have a great day Sir.

I've not managed to find an OEM hedgehog unit on ebay.. other than the used one I recently fitted that only lasted 6 months.
