Thanks for that.
I did request a re-gen with my Snap-On scanner but unplugged it then went for a run.
Didn't notice much at all but will check again later.

Keep it plugged in so you can see what’s happening while your driving

Hi guys just a update cars been doing regens on its own without fault only thing is it’s still smokes under hard acceleration and exhaust tips are going black within a few days after cleaning them do you think there’s still a fault somewhere or is it just bunged up with soot and going to take some time to clear no error codes at all and I’ve just taken it to wales and back with the caravan no problems at all

If it isn’t showing errors then it ought to be OK. Might need a bit of spirited driving to completely clear it.

When the glowplugs were changed on my X6, the first time that I gave it a proper boot full, the world (and a Mercedes) behind me vanished in a huge plume of smoke. I thought the engine had gone, but it was just clearing its throat!! It was like a tank laying a smoke screen for about 300yds….very impressive - if a little bit of a brown trousers moment. :o

I’m just curious as with it going so long without a proper regeneration I can’t imagine what the inside of the intake egr etc must look like but like I say there’s no faults showing I’m unsure if any sensors can go faulty without bringing codes up such as maf etc I can read the maf data but again the readings mean nothing to me

No codes no worries.
As said could just be a backlog of soot to clear out in the pipe.
