2010 E70 X5 3.0d - 3F40 Rail Pressure Sensor Offset Test

Currently getting the following error code along with a number of others:

• 3F40 Rail Pressure Sensor Offset Test

The idles is sometime very lumpy, and more recently the car with cut out at low revs, very dangerous at roundabouts.

I presume I need to change the pressure sensor unless this code points to something else?

A quick search on line indicates either the sensor or bad wiring/connector to it. Seems a fairly common problem.
