The main suggestion seems to be to check all wiring connections for water ingress, damage or corrosion. All I can find looks to be E70 but there are major similarities to the E71. Diagnostics says to use ISTA so may need dealer help.
Check fuses F8 in the front and F106 in the rear, both are 7.5A. Wiring comes into module A80b (below right rear fuse box). Left rear satellite is angled inboard and forward of the rear shock, front left is behind the wheel arch trim, left front.
Both have Pink & Green wires plus a Brown/Green wire into them and feed directly to the module above. Connectors are X18620 and X18621. Only the module A80b is common to both. Power goes directly from the fuses to the satellites. Module power is via fuse F120 (rear) 5A rated. The two connectors have all four satellite modules coming into them (left and right corners).
My X6 couldn’t have adaptive drive because at the time it could not be ordered on the 40d, but could on the 30d!

Oh joy, had a spirited drive this morning with a fully warm engine, Msport+ mode, chug, chug, chug, off to garage, New engine or engine build required as bottom end pooped its pants

Oh sh!t. Timing chain break, or spun main crank bearing? The N57 is pretty bombproof unless one of those two things happen, and the latter is only known in police vehicles.

Opps but timing chain failure not uncommon on the 40d seen a few for sale needing a chain.

From what the mechanic says its knocked crank out, its a petrol engine which I thought was bombproof.

x6m you only just got it a month? The 4.4 v8 well known for ruining cranks unfortunately big end bearings wear badly and are a regular service item it seems but it it goes too long engine is scrap /crank ruined.

yeah its slightly annoying, but when you buy silly cars you have an emergency rebuild fund

It's Definately a sily car but what a beast if it needs an engine replace the rod bearings before getting it fitted as I'm sure your specialist will tell you then baby it till its warm only then are you allowed to have fun

I roughly know the cost of a genuine ‘short’ engine, hopefully your specialist can knock that down somewhat. I have seen them on Alibaba but I’m not certain I would trust a Chinese ‘rebuild’ with potentially slightly iffy parts.Fozziebeard wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 8:03 pm [yeah its slightly annoying, but when you buy silly cars you have an emergency rebuild fund

They are fully stripping the engine, cleaning, checking for damage then fully rebuild with new kit, tougher crank etc, then its all new fluids, basically zero miles lump then, 2000 miles then service.X5Sport wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 9:36 pmI roughly know the cost of a genuine ‘short’ engine, hopefully your specialist can knock that down somewhat. Had exactly the same happen on my 640d, mechanic has said the crankshaft is shot, 81k on the clock with full service.....to replace the engine with a reman would be 6k, as it was a 2012 I did the figures and sold it for £4200 to another mechanic who's going to rebuild the engine in his spare time, the engine reman place said they get 3 to 4 phone calls a day with the same thing and they are all N57/N47 engines, he also said the statement from BMW that its only happening to police cars is a load of f*****g s**T....he cant keep up with rebuilding the engines......
