Fuel prices rising by the week now it seems

We don't have a choice well Tesco or Morrisons is all we have local.
Goes up daily they take it in turn thoe.

When I drove past one of my regulars, here in the North East, yesterday it was still £1.429 - which it's been at for over a week.
I've still got over a third of a tank and don't usually top-up until it's down to a quarter. That will probably be this time next week.

I saw 1.38 for diesel in Asda yesterday thought I was dreaming

seems price of a barrel has dropped so price at the pumps should be drooping soonish after the oil companies make a killing first and they come under pressure to drop prices.

I wouldn't buy out of that Asda though as they sell virtually no fuel at all due to thier location so its probably same fuel they had before the rises .See about 1 car max any time I'm in

Well hopefully fuel prices on the turn ,omicron good for something £1:36 in Asda so had my first fill up there ,Tesco still looking £1:41.Asda starting to get busy as word gets around

Still around £1.50 for diesel and £1.48 for petrol around me.

One BP station on the A1 at Baldock I passed yesterday is almost £1.60 which is a disgrace.

£1.51 a couple of days ago at a Tesco/Esso near me, others were more.

Last time I was out on the road (Saturday) prices around here were still stable at £1.459 - £1.519.

There seems to be some profiteering going on around these parts.

In the course of 9 hours yesterday, a local forecourt put their prices up 3p/ltr 3 times!

OK, I might have missed seeing one delivery - but I refuse to believe they had 3 deliveries in one day.

I despise profiteering. Average price for diesel in my parts is £1.70 now. Must have all had a tanker delivery within days. One of the worst generally is an Esso/Tesco business which is actually my nearest.

It'll be £2.00 a litre before long

I think it will be 2 quid soon hard to believe but looking that way ,has went up 5p in Tesco yesterday after I got some, see asda today 1.57 .

Ironic thing is asda there sells feck all fuel now due to location so on same stuff as last week

some selling fuel at 1.80 already now that is taking the piss.

Coincidently, the one I referred to is Esso/Tesco. I have used it in the past when it was one of the cheapest, but it hasn't been for quite a few months now.

They won't be selling me any more fuel.

A family member is now paying £800/mnth for heating fuel and expects that to hit £1/litre any day now. They don’t have an option being rural other than to sell up and move. I had my update from British Gas for dual fuel from 1st April estimated as £3,3k (I think it’s too high as we don’t use that much) so the Oct ‘22 increase could be significantly worse.

Some of the junior staff where I work could well be in a position of not being able to come in because they can’t afford it.

Does anyone the 3-day week and rolling power cuts of the early 70s?

Yes i remember the three day week, power cuts, fuel rationing and rubbish in the streets due to strikes.

They’re burning through more than 1,000L of heating fuel per month at present and think the next load will be £800. It’s a big house (18th Century) in rural Wales. Beautiful spot near Cardigan and the house has seriously thick solid walls but being Grade 2 listed means all sorts of limitations on types of windows and doors. Modern double glazing is just not permitted. Loft insulation hasn’t been possible as the rooms go up into the attic spaces. The have an almost 100yr old relative with them and the temp has to be kept between 22 and 24°C. That means boilers on all the time.

A colleague at work has their house heated by a gas-fired Aga and that’s never off so the bill is around £600 for dual fuel. He’s terrified of where his bills will go up to.
