Whooshing noise

Post by Graeme » Mon Nov 08, 2021 2:36 pm

Car is a 2018 X4.0d Comfort suspension. 24k miles. 255x50x19 Pirelli Scorpion Verde run flats on all wheels have been on since new. Car sits level - no drop on one side when parked. On some roads seems to be pitching side to side a little (could be the roads of course!) I've noticed for the past couple of weeks a slow whooshing noise similar to the one my dishwasher makes! Whoosh - whoosh - whoosh about once a second. It doesn't speed up much as the car accelerates and is still noticeable when stationary. Most noticeable at about 30mph on smooth roads. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what it might be? Thanks...

Whooshing noise

Could it be one of the climate fans surging? It’s not going to be engine or transmission (right out to the wheels) related because of the unchanging frequency, You need to have someone sit in the driver’s seat whilst you scramble around to see which part of the car it’s loudest in (inside & out).

Clutching at straws really
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Thanks - next time out I'll try switching them off. I know it's not the air con as I've tried that off and on and off again!
