Rear Differential advice
Does anyone know if a diff, part number 7590913 is a straight swap for the 7590912 ? They are both 3.15 ratio but I don't know if the drive shafts etc are the same. Car is a 2010 X5 3.0 xdrive diesel with an 8 speed Auto box. And advice would be gratefully received.

Check on www.realoem.com call up your model (use your Vin) then double click the part number and it should bring up a list of alternatives if there are any.

Thanks but that's quite confusing, it lists the 7590911, 7590912 and 7590914 but It doesn't come up with anything if you search for 7590913, but that is the one that has many listed on ebay

Some differentials are not available except through official dealers or are just not available. You’ll need to talk to a dealer to see what they can get, however expect the cost to be significant. RealOEM knows it’s a rear diff but that’s all it knows as the part isn’t available. Dealers may need to generate a PUMA support request to send to Munich.
Differences in the numbers are often to do with supported towing capacity and sizing of the interfaces to the rear propshaft.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

The most common one will be the one without factory towpack (which had heavier duty thicker driveshafts) , if you have the rare towpack then you will struggle to find the right diff (imo) There clearly are differences unfortunately apart from that I have no idea what they might be
