Always liked the style but i prefered the gloss black. All options discontinued now though.

Would these suit a heaviy de-chromed car? I think these are shadow chrome?

The only reports that I remember on the Forum were from years back and that the ride could be a bit ‘crashy’ on some roads as there isn’t much give in the sidewalls with the OEM RFT tyres. Black is black so it probably doesn’t make a difference. Very much personal preference (I’m not a fan).

Not a fan of black or these wheels? The ride is pretty brutal with 20" and RFT, i didn't think it would be measurably worse for half an inch 🤔

I have too many wheels already, maybe i should just be sensible :)

The black bit. I loved those wheels but at the time of purchase for my X6 they were too much, and the state of the roads made me think I’d damage them too easily. Shame they’ve gone out of production though. :o

Sensible….nah, life’s too boring to be sensible all the time

I have them on my e70 but with normal tyres, The ride is a bit harsher than my 20s with winter tyres that I just switched over from recently. Mine are silver but I was thinking they would look good in gold on a black car :driving:
The best looking wheels for the e70 range (imo)
Currently running only 3 while I wait to get another tyre after running over a big stone and ripping the sidewall this week :headbang:

I had overlooked the harshness aspect  probably blinkered as they're a good price. Having thought on that and looked again at 21" tyre prices, ill stay with the 20" sets i already have.

Tyre price is one of the driving forces behind me looking at smaller wheels, tyre prices for 21" are much higher than 19" or 20", especially if you have the change all four following an incident, given the 2mm tread difference guidance.
I also think smaller wheels are likely to be more robust.

I do like the type 300s on mine. As i have two sets, one set in need of a refurb , it makes sense to press on with that work and get on with more mundane things.

The tyres are a a bit more expensive but 20" runflats are hardly cheap either and can get decent tyres for about 200 quid (non runflat fronts falken tyres looking at camskill ) If the road is reasonable the ride is ok unfortunately a lot of the roads I drive on are minor/country roads with many pothole repairs

I think 20's are an ideal compromise , 19's look a bit small and I've seen 22's and they look too big , 21's look just perfect :driving:

Got 21" on mine at present, set of tyres fitted just shy of £1600, for Dunlop sport max gt fitted, and just over a thousand for the 20"
Just got to get the 468m wheels I bought a while ago refurbished, add tpms and tyres and then fit for next yearwhen the winters come off in April. Ideally would like to fit all season tyres but can't find any star marked ones at present.

Thanks, will look into further, its amazing that bmw don't publish proper guidance for tyres like a list of star rated tyres for various models and if Mercedes and Audi equivalent are acceptable or not.
It would also help if they published the wear guidelines in the user manual, but all they say is contact your dealer!

"Contact your dealer". Who will more than likely know FA about such matters 🤔

My Dealer Service Manager did tell me that the two Mercedes coded tyre types are OK. Marked MO and MOE. I’m struggling to even get those types in the sizes that I need too!

The only place that I’ve ever seen tyres listed is RealOEM. Even the Owners Manuals don’t tell you of the risks of not using the ‘correct’ rubber, tread depth limits, with many only finding there’s an issue when something breaks and they refuse to cover it. It’s just wrong but because of the statements in the manuals about BMW Approved parts being ‘recommended’ that seems to be their get out clause.

Block Exemption may have gone (requirement to have servicing done by main dealers only) but there are loopholes that the industry has exploited to all of our personal loss. :headbang: :x

Yep, they don't help the owners, sadly its all part of the money making model, BMW and others dictate - flash showrooms, with high associated costs thus meaning very high labour costs, the manufacturer(s) who adopt a more budget showroom model and lower costs with better warranties will continue to win market share as time goes on, leading possibly to the eventual demise of others.
