Got the x back from the paint shop, pleased with the result so cracked on with fitting the Android unit and Resler app. Which immediately showed that the outside temperature reads -8.9c. So I assume I have a bad sensor. Had a quick look to see how difficult to access and saw the busted outer cv boot. Alpina failed the MOT to many crack lines in the flexi front brake pipe. Picked up the OEM crank sensor for the m3 (£151) today, hopefully that will result in bringing it back to life, when I find time to fit it. I’ve had a great day.

Changed the 2 flexi brake pipes today, surprising how tight things are after 22 years. Got the retest done, all good now. Fitted the new sensor to the m3. Started immediately and ran for all of 4 seconds. So back to the drawing board. Start tomorrow getting the old boot of the x. To end on a high note we have sold our house subject to this that and the other and the buyers ability to change their mine at the last moment.

Changed the boot today, tried hard to keep everything neat and tidy and not get covered in grease. Got a big tick in the failed box.
Obviously only recently failed as there’s no grease on the wheel or suspension. Still, cleaned it all out and filled with new grease. Let’s hope this one lasts 20 years.CV Boot
I said I’d put up some pics now it’s back from the paint shop.
I thought I’d put in some radio shots to make all you X5 owners jealous of how many mpg I’m getting. The side and back I’m showing were really bad with paint missing on the doors and rust along the bottom of the tail gate
