Hello and welcome. AFAIK heads up display was always an option so may not be fitted, all cars have an MFD on the screen.
To establish what the car was built with, you'll need to put the last seven digits of the chassis/vin number into an online vin decoder, Google is your friend, mdecoder.com is one example. You can also use realoem.com for information on parts, retrofit kits etc.

The giveaway for the HUD is a large rectangular ‘hole’ in the top of the dash for the windscreen projector. It has been an expensive option on all but the very top spec cars across BMWs range even today.

Power tailgates became standard in around 2011/2 from memory, possible earlier depending upon model. I would expect a 40d to have one given it’s factory cost new.

As said above, use the VIN decider to get your factory ‘build sheet’ as that will confirm the options it left BMW’s Spartanburg factory with.

I’ve noticed that RealOEM, along with a number of BMW parts databases on line, is no longer current. It is currently showing Dec 2019 but used to be done every three months. Perhaps BMW have changed the way they issue their updates and these sites can’t get the ETK any longer. It used to be available to Dealers on DVD.

From that list if the car had HUD it would show it. The "CHECK HISTORY " i would heed too, perhaps the car hasnt been dealer serviced?

LHD too, where in the world are you located?

The HUD if fitted would be option S610A (I have had it in 3 BMWs and it’s always been that code). Assuming that you have the right details then it isn’t included. It would be worth asking the Seller for the full 17 character VIN to be certain.

Something you really also need to find out is what tyres are fitted. BMW xDrive cars are very sensitive to tyres (bad design IMHO) and need to be shod with the right rubber and have even tread depth all round. The F15 is less problematic but it still needs checking. It should have either ‘*’ or ‘MOE’ marked tyres with no more than 1.5mm difference between any one tyre and the others, or between axles. ‘*’ are BMW Homologated, ‘MOE’ are Mercedes Original Extended - which BMW now also use. Mixing brands, or going ‘cheap’ is not recommended.

Some decoders get the LHD/RHD wrong, but this one looks better as it says RL for steering. It’s also got the power (in kW not bhp)

No I haven't seen it as put a small holding deposit at a large dealer as it ticks the right boxes, the photos are pretty good but nothing of the top of the dashboard.
With regards to the tyres I have seen that indicator you talk about..cheers
With regard to the boot lid is it electronically open/close with the remote key or just spring open like my other BMW's

The power tailgate will open on the key or a button inside (plus a button in the boot lid) and should power fully open and fully close via electric screwjacks. On my X6 (so ought to be supported in the later F15) I can set the opening limit on the boot lid via the iDrive - stops it clouting low ceilings in car parks etc. I think it’s only the upper section though. BMW weren’t offering a remote close option (key fob or inside button) in case the lid hit someone on the way down, but changed their minds during production years. My Gran Tourer will auto close from the key or inside button - it just sounds an alarm and flashes the rear indicators as a warning.

Some models have a sensor below where you waggle a foot underneath and it opens but I didn’t think the F15 has that (because of the split tailgate) and it seems to have fallen out of favour in later models as it’s a bit temperamental and is no longer offered.

Just for interest, I was advised by my BMW dealer that tolerance for treads between any is 3 mm for the f15 between any one tyre and any other, I specifically asked as needed to replace one front tyre due to damage, thought I was going to end up buying two or all four tyres which would have been expensive as 21” wheels, but bmw dealer who changed tyre stated it was half the allowable tolerance at 1.5mm out of the 3mm allowed, so only one needed changing, it’s going in for service mot and end of warranty check later this week, so I’ll ask again and see if I can get it confirmed in writing for my piece of mind.

That's great ..thanks for all your help. So presumably the power lid is standard, the reason I asking about heads up on the advert it says the extras listed and the price it would have been and it's a bit strange when it talks about the HUD as it says random text then lists it so it's unclear if it has it but seems unlikely. I don't want to ask them prior to my visit as maybe I can use it to my advantage to get a discount of some sort. Thanks

Interesting. I think it kkx5 who said a couple of years back that after the E70 the tolerance to tread depth got better and the ‘G’ series seemed to have solved it. I’ll see if I can find anything definitive so we give people the right info…. :D
