G01 service Plan

Post by eurovenue » Fri Jul 09, 2021 2:16 pm

Hi, I pick up my new X3 G01 (MSport 20i) on Monday. Should I take out a service Plan? it will cost £900 (£25 a month for 3 years). Or should I just pay the service bills when they occur? i'm now sure what servicing it will need over this time period!
I plan only around 6000 mile P.A.
This is my 1st BMW for 20 years so I would welcome any thoughts
Thanks  Mike

Hi and welcome :D given the low miles and possibly long service intervals you will maybe only get 1 service for you money ,hard to know really.

G01 service Plan

I’ve only bought a service pack once, for my E53 and it wasn’t worth it. In the three years that I’ve now had the F46 it’s done 34,000 miles and been serviced once. It’s next (and first major) service is still 4,000 miles away so well outside any 3-year plan timescale.

In the time I have had the car, all it has needed is one oil change and a brake fluid change. Both were around £180 each. Brake pads are being changed all round in a couple of weeks for less than 1/2 of what BMW wanted to charge and aren’t included in service packs as far as I remember.

If you are only planning on 6k/yr you would only need the same servicing so would lose substantially. Better to put money in the bank to use when you need it.

Thanks for your thoughts. I was thinking along the same lines with the low mileage.

G01 service Plan

I may have to have the same discussion later today……going to ‘discuss’ a 2.0d MSport as BMW have stopped all orders on the F46 Gran Tourer. No new model so need to find something else. Would like a 30d but not paying £3k per extra cylinder to go from a 4-pot to a 6-pot.

Best off paying when you service as I did with my G30. I picked my G01 up last Friday I will be low mileage 5k annually tops, one think I will do is yearly oil change at the garage that looks after my TR6 would never leave oil for two years.

G01 service Plan

I managed to negotiate an unlimited service plan with my 3 month old G01 which I was surprised at but I will be lucky to fit 2 services into 3 years as my mileage is low.
