Anyone Have An F25 With 20” Style 311?
Re: Anyone Have An F25 With 20” Style 311?
Yep! Lepsons have a terrific rep.
.........But they are 300 miles from me.
And, for clarification, I asked the last place I used for refurb specifically for Ferric grey and was told their interpretation of gunmetal was the nearest they could get and that they would neither wet paint wheels nor mix (or have mixed) special colours in powder "....because if you damage one wheel, you'll have to have all four done again. If you have our stock colours we can just do one". I accept that it's my bad for being sucked-in by the sales patter. But all the powdercoaters around here seem to have the same attitude to both wet paint and choices of colours.

Well this is someone else's thread afterall......
It sounds like you're cursed with poor businesses locally, a pity. No more i can add to this now other than finding a 24hr service and an overnight hotel.

Photoshop i assume? If you're looking for opinions, the first image with darker wheels would be my choice

The darker ones would be my choice too.

Cheers. Yes I think I agree!

Ended up going with shadow chrome. I wasn’t convinced at the start but they’ve definitely grown on me. Even Mrs Lyons commented on them and she has never even noticed I’ve changed wheels before.
Sadly the car is now throwing up the tyre pressure error. I maybe naively assumed the F25 wouldn’t have sensors in the wheels to operate the system (like my Audi), but I assume it does? Anyone know the part number for an F25?

Realoem certainly shows F25s have tyre pressure monitoring

I just had one go in the 2-series. Non genuine part was £42+VAT. They have a code that needs to be put in so they work with your actual car. Tyre fitter got the code needed from the registration number and his supplier coded the unit before shipping. Some need the VIN. With the right code ‘blown in’ the car picked it up straight away, no issues.
Interestingly (well to me anyway) the market trend is now away from ‘on wheel’ radio sensors and back to wheel speed sensors like the older models have. More reliable and less prone to snapping when new tyres are fitted etc. The BMW OEM unit is very fragile where the valve stem and module lock together.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Do you know if the pressure monitoring can be coded out?
Alternatively I’ll see what other models come with the same sensors and potentially just pick up a set of wheels. For example if 16” F30 wheels have the same sensors, a set of wheels can be had for £80 as they are undesirable.

Thanks for that.sapphireblack wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 5:27 pm Realoem certainly shows F25s have tyre pressure monitoring
Where is the module located?!
Re: Anyone Have An F25 With 20” Style 311?
The sensors are really easy to get hold of and if you give the supplier your vehicle details they’ll code it for you. The bit you need goes at the base of the tyre valve. Part 4 in the diagram.
Coding out could (if spotted) result in MOT failure - it’s a ‘Major’ on cars first used from Jan 2012. Carly could not do it but that’s all I have. Bimmercode may work?

Old school, if 2009 is old school, X6s have TPMS monitoring that dont require wheel sensors.
My 2001 X5 had the wheels sensor system, a royal pita. Why they (BMW) switched around so much only they know
