Hi all.
Ive had my e70 6 months now and just realised that there are lights on the underside of the external door handles and non of them work. It's a 2010 35d e70. Are they bulbs that have failed or LED's .
Do I need to remove the door card and the complete handle to investigate.
Has anyone else had this issue and solved it.
Cheers Mat

Re: External door handle lights
I can't offer an informed explanation but if none are working its not likely, imo, to be bulbs, too much coincidence. I think they're LEDs but the handbook should tell you.
Have you checked the most obvious, fuses? It may be a module failure, is everything else working?

A quick Google points to fuse #132 in the boots fuse board. It seems to be quite a common issue

Re: External door handle lights
Would think LED's in them and as above a fuse must have gone.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't checked anything as yet, as I wanted to get some knowledge from more experienced people. Will check the fuses and go from there.
Thanks

Ah, giant smilies, only applicable here i think
This may be useful. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e71- ... ngs-front/ but hopefully it may just be a fuse.

Quick update fuse #132 is functional. Everything else works on the car.
I tried to access newtis but I was redirected to bmwtis and gues what! They want a paid subscription to access the site, so I'm still scratching my head

The general response at this point is to suggest having any fault codes diagnosed. You need a dealer or specialist visit, or to invest in your own scanner, if you have a laptop.

Re: External door handle lights
I had issue similar to this, no exterior lighting working when unlocking etc, mine turned out to be low battery at the end of its life, although my car started fine every time, the car seemed to switch off stuff that wasn’t necessary. I recently changed my battery after many attempts to revive it with ctek charger. When I changed the battery found it was original bmw from 2011
