Bmw 3.0 D 2004 NON Starting

Post by jay_1980 » Tue Apr 06, 2021 5:34 pm

Hi,

I have a 2004 plate BMW X5. 3,0.

I was diving along and the car cut out. It was recovered by the AA who said it was the High pressure fuel pump. On the basis of that there was 1.3 Bar of pressure on the pre pump and there was 0 bar on the rail. I have had the car checked at Main dealer today who said.. It could be the low pressure side as they are sure its ment to be at least 3 bar pressure on the pre stage, It could be a injector failed but then it would still register something on the rail and then he said they think its the High pressure pump. Thats failed the error codes that are coming up are

1260 Delivery pump control system
1255 Delivery pump pressure sensor.

The main dealer just said they dont touch this type of problem and speak to a diesel specialist

the nearest one of them to me is over 70 miles away.

They have just said from what that can see it will be the tank pump as thats what usually comes up

has anyone else had this problem before..

or where would you start.

I have worked on alot of cars before but this is doing my head right in.

Are you seriously saying a main BMW dealer is declining to help you?

There words where, Its a 2004 plate car that has 120,500 miles on the clock.
They said that if they did it they would take the injectors off and send them off for testing along with the pump.
(They wont have the test eqwipment to test them. )
and change the intank pump and the pressure guage on the rail

and that would cost me £1600 and thats with out them fitting them all back to the car when they come back
they said estimated bill would be £3200 ish

but they would give me a cracking deal on a trade in against it if i wanted to..

I'd try and find a decent reputable indie nearby to look at it.

Bit of a concern when the Dealer says they don't really know anything about diesels ??? When for the last decade they have sold more diesel than petrol ??

Google the Register of BMW Specialists you should find one near you
