Exhaust downpipe gasket

Post by thomp1983 » Fri Apr 02, 2021 7:52 pm

Hi all,

Does the 4.4i have a gasket between the exhaust manifold and downpipe? I can't find one on realoem but I'm surprised bmw rely on a tapered fit to be gas tight.

Thanks
Chris

That's the sort of thing I mean yes but when I enter my vin there's nothing on the manifold page and the manifold is a different design.

I'm certain there was nothing fitted when I removed the engine which is why I think it must just be sealed with paste

Having now picked a pre-2003 version, I can’t see anything about a seal/gasket either under engine, manifold or exhaust. As you suggest, it looks like a paste job. Facelift versions have a seal there.

Nothing on mine. Not even paste and it doesn't leak.
