Hello to all people am new to this Fourm, I have X5 E70 Model now this car I’ve never had a problem until now. It’s 2011 plate with 80,000 full Bmw service had the car for 2 years now... I notice a small jerk when accelerating to 40 or above been told it’s got cheap tyres on so I need genuine tyres but I was thinking all that time the car was fine... what I’ve notice is the car won’t select in sport mode/manual but after one hour drive I notice the DS started to work..... I moved it to Ds and D (drive) few times I notice a noise then the noise went away...
So issues am having are, small jerk wen am doing 20-40mph, when am full locking there a vibration noise.. feels like front wheel passenger is fighting....and sometimes Ds not selecting... now the car went to Bmw dealers back last year in recall on propshaft.
Any suggestions please?

Re: E70 not selecting in sport mode or manual
Hi and welcome as for tyres they need to be very close in tread depth around 1.5mm is recommended or this can cause strange issues and lead to damage eventually. Not sure why it won't select in manual if its ok in auto but I suspect tyre changing won't fix that ,I think you need to take it to an auto gearbox specialist (not bmw) and get an expert opinion but id get it checked for oil leaks and low oil level first incase that is an issue.

You need a code read done to see what that shows up. There’s no physical connection between the shifter and box, it’s all drive by wire. The shifter just connects to the gearbox control electronics module (EGS). Could be an issue with the shifter itself rather than the box. Might just be a faulty switch so the signal isn’t getting to the EGS module..
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Thank you I’ve done that. The codes were faulty interlock I think that’s Gear stickX5Sport wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 4:56 pm You need a code read done to see what that shows up. Then the oil level could be low or propshaft to be seen..
