Relating to my other post which is fizzling out (K-Bus Down) I have got most functions of the car back now after all my modules stopped communicating and controlling the car when the battery absolutely flattened
Using BMW Scanner, TV and MID modules are some of those modules not found.
My LCD is displaying satnav, radio etc but the TV has disappeared from the listing on screen
Also on the binnacle......I have no MID info controlled by the end of the indicator stalk.
ie no time clock , consumption, stop watch, fuel miles left etc....
The dot matrix display DOES work because I get the FASTEN SEAT BELT message if I forget displayed on that line...it's just the auxillary MID info which is missing.
Lastly and may be connected.......the doors dont auto lock even though they are programmed to according information accessed by BMW scanner.
The doors do auto lock and move the windows up and down with the key fob but not when the car reaches 16km/h as programmed.
So....no TV fuction available, no auto door lock when speed achieved, no MID info displaying / avaiable.

Re: M.I.D infor missing.
I would say BM54 Radio unit and TV module in the boot are at fault. Issues are not unknown with these units. There are specialists who repair the BM54 unit but TV units I am not sure.
I had this issue in my 4.4 the cost of repair/replacement of the two modules even back then was high so I put in a Dynavin unit that had Radio, Digital TV, Bluetooth (much better that OEM) Nav, Ipod connection just better. I sold the OEM Nav
, CD changer and Headunit and recovered most of the cost of the Dynavin. I am told that the new units include mid operations.
If things start going on the 4.6 I would go that route again

I think members on here have used Cartronics in the past and been very pleased. It is possible to have the BM54 upgraded with things like Bluetooth streaming but I don’t know the costs sorry.

I reckon its the TV module.
Radio is displaying all stations and listing the stations OK.
One thing I noticed when working in the boot on was that inside the TV module, there is a cooling fan and this constantly starts and stops about one minute intervals.
Not sure what this has to do with the MID information though or the doors not auto locking at achieved speed. ?

Door locks are controlled by the General Module that appears to be above the glovebox. Each door has its own actuator controller.
Newtis shows this: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e53- ... es/EXZUSLP For left hand drive cars hence assuming it will be over the other side on RHD cars.
I can’t think of an obvious connection between the MID and locks either unless the water in the rear is/has resulted in trouble in the wiring loom and either a short or bad connection. If anything is upsetting the bus because if that then it may be taking out other unrelated modules. My thought process is whether the tailgate lock wiring passes through the wet area? There’s a lot of wiring down by the battery and modules in the carrier beside it.

Re: M.I.D infor missing.
****** Can I please resurrect this post because I am still no nearer****
I cannot set stopwatch, display temperature, fuel economy, etc etc etc in the bottom 20 digit display of the high binnacle.
I really miss not knowing how many miles I have left fuel wise and the date and time.
This 20 digit display DOES work because i get the fasten seatbelt message, ext. low temp, check washer reservoir level etc.
I have no tv function, that has disappeared from the binnacle display.
Using pa soft 1.4.1 there is no communication with the tv module or the MID module. (In fact where physically is this elusive MID module ??????)
does it need more specific BMW software to look into this rather the PA Soft 1.4.1 ? software ??
Its an absolute minefield, it seems there is bits of information stored all over the car which finally is displayed on the binnacle?
Thanks

Re: M.I.D infor missing.
Last week I lost all communication with Radio, TV, Nav, Telephone, CD plus no Green arrows and click for the indicators (still working though) Following a scan no communication with LCM or any of the above plus Multi Function Steering wheel.
I did a lot of fault finding as I believed it was an Ibus fault but after more work it now looks as though the issue is with the LCM unit.
So some research and I am on the lookout for an LCM III B or LCM IV then just need to code it in
I hope
Could your issue be similar?
