Reference your comment on exhausts. I have a Magnaflow exhaust (OE back boxes rusted through) center box was replaced with x pipe then 2 small resonators and no back boxes. To be honest apart from a little bit more burble at idle I didn’t notice any difference when driving. I couldn’t comment on hp as 4 or 5 hp on top of or reduction is beyond my seat of the pants ability to detect. It was done because I needed a new exhaust. Back in the day when I was trying out different exhausts for the M3 conversion and then going on a rolling road, getting rid of the centre box reduced the torque by a huge amount, but it sounded great, in the end the best result came from a Z3M exhaust for that engine. So it would appear to me anyway that BMW had a fairly good idea of what worked best. You need to accept that most of the time an increase of sound no matter how nice has to be payed for in some other area, ie power.

Agreed.
I don't want to lose any power. Not that I race around anyway.
I just want a lower muscle car tone to the exhaust.

Update on the battery.
So far the one in the car is ok. The one that went flat and I removed, charged on recon with the ctek measured 12.8v this morning so in theory it’s in better shape than the one in the car...

See how it is after 24 hours. If it’s still showing 12.8V that’s a good battery indeed. Brand new it would show that figure and decay steadily over the battery’s service life.

It’s already been over a week and it’s still 12.8v so that’s ok in my book. The only thing that I can think of that flattened it was a combination of short trips and the dash cam falling off and setting the alarm off.
