Warning lights.
Warning lights.
Hi everybody,
my ABS & Dsc & 4x4 lights are on, I no the problem but the screw holding the speed sensor on is rounded off, can't undo it. The question being, the MOT is due, would it fail with these lights on, thanks.

Re: Warning lights.
An ABS light is classed as a ‘Major’ so an immediate fail. (Sec 1.6 (b))
A DSC warning light could also be classed as a ‘Major’ if it indicates a system malfunction (Sec 7.12(e)) - the tester will need to check the Owners Manual.
The 4x4 fail lamp probably doesn’t but given the other two are classed as Majors it’s academic.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Warning lights.
To get the screw out you’ll need to drill the head off and then lever the sensor out or hacksaw through the plastic lug that the screw goes through lever the plastic away so you can get vice grips on the screw after you’ve soaked it in wd40 or similar. What makes you think the sensor has failed, they rarely do it’s normally the abs module that fails
Re: Warning lights.
I thought it was the sensor, I had seen a couple of vids on you tube. And getting the screw off seems aggressive but I'll give it a go.
Re: Warning lights.
If its an allen screw and an allen key/ bit its spinning round get a torx splined bit and hammer it onto it , that will usually be enough to turn it then really shouldn't be that tight
Re: Warning lights.
That sound better than been aggressive.
Re: Warning lights.
Had one changed recently and the "cut the bolt head off" manner came in on the job.
Once it was cut off the sensor came straight out and the bolt well you could have almost unscrewed it with your fingers.
Total job took 25 minutes wheel back on.
That was my m8 doing it in his garage not me lol.

Re: Warning lights.
Thanks all,
I hammered a torx into the screw and it worked.
