Went to refill my car this morning and the diesel fuel nozzle would not go into the filler cap.
Upon further examination I found a metal plate to be blocking the nozzle opening.
I've later found out this is the mis-fuelling protection.
Can anyone instruct me how to open this cap?
I need to fill my car with fuel today.
Thanks

Re: 2010 E70 X5 3.0d - Misfuel Protection Plate
It should open automatically as long as the correct fuelling nozzle is used. Could be the garage had the wrong end on that hose - as in a petrol one? AFAIK the flap is built in and not replaceable on its own meaning a new hose from filler to tank . That means draining the tank too.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Is it the same place you have filled up at before.

It was a nozzle problem, never been to that filling station before and it was early in morning and dark so couldn't see what was going on.
After work went to another filling station and it opened with no problems.
Bit of an early morning shock when half asleep!
Thanks all!

Although it was dark and I was half asleep, I can confirm I had a black diesel pump in my hand.
Good challenge though!
