Side protection strips, yes or no?

Thought about this numerous times now, when i first got the car a few dinks had to be massaged out.

As BMW never offered it on an X6 although standard on an X5, is adding them a good idea? They'd stay in natural black, buying genuine E70 parts and then colour coding would be about £1k

A bad X6 example here, factory parts apparently, though painted poorly

Not sure TBH as they kind of ruin the smooth lines of the X6. On the other hand, if they reduce the impact from selfish (or jealous!) car park bandits then I can see a benefit.
