Driving down the road this morning and there was a really loud bang/ thud.
The rear driver side window had disappeared into the door cavity. I whipped off the door card so I could wedge it up with some wood but didn't have time to see what's broken.
Let's have a game - get you guesses in as to what broke. No prizes..
I will reveal the answer when I get a chance to have a proper butchers.

Rear door glass o/s
Re: Rear door glass o/s
Item 1 has broken parts
Re: Rear door glass o/s
Well the regulator doesn’t look like that but the plastic part on the runner where the cables meet has snapped in half.
Strange as the rear windows are very rarely used. I’ve just bought a whole new regulator including motor new for £29.99. Gives me something to do in a few days..

So anyway, the new regulator arrived today so I stuck it in. Low and behold the polaroon the motor is the wrong way round - press the switch down and the window goes up and vice versa.. Time to swap to the old motor I think.
Also, after browsing the manual for the 4.4 X5 I've just found out that the ignition switch is just that - a switch. One flick and release to start instead of holding in the start position. Ace.

Ok. Sorted.
I put the old motor on the new regulator and it's OK. I did notice that the wire plug connector on the old motor is at the bottom whereas the new one it's at the top.. And the old motor is quieter too.
Then I changed the rear diff fluid but need not have bothered as the old oil was really clean so it must have been done before I got the car. Five years ago..
