My son now carries a small battery booster pack with him all the time. It has helped him a number of times with his three vehicles, and also his work colleague. Saved him a fortune!

My battery life has recently taken a nose dive, mainly due to the fact that I drove over the charger. It’s in the corner of the garage looking like 2 ton just drove over it.

Let’s ignore the stupidity of driving over the CTEK and instead give some praise to the CTEK, it still works

Sorry for the late reply,

Mrs booked us into a holiday place in Hampshire with no wifi and none existent phone signal. That at least weaned the kids off YouTube and left me feeling punished.

Before the 2.5hr drive, I charged the battery overnight and changed the oil & filter since due. The next morning after the drive I was back to a little bit of cranking. If it is fuel related, what do I need to do or look for to resolve it.

Thanks

If it is fuel pressure related then you should get a code read done to confirm what errors are being logged. There is a pressure sensor and a pressure regulator fitted on the pressure accumulator that sits between the HP pump and injectors. Low pressure inhibits starting. If it’s on the LP side (from the tank pump) then fuel filter is a common cause whilst the LP pump boosts pressure, or the pump itself being slow to get fuel through - though I would expect that to be more of a continuous issue than just when first cranking.

Newtis shows this: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e53- ... ne/HmVIaAH

Confirming the system function/performance needs specialist access to monitoring software - or your own copy of such.

I have a C110 code scanner, so will plug that it to see if there are any stored faults.

Here are my readings from the C110 Scanner

3E91 Speed sensor, crank shaft
51A7 No message (engine speed) from engine management
02 Ride-level sensor, right

I'll clear the codes to see if any come back again. Could the 1st explain my symptoms or a better scanner is required?

If the crank sensor has failed it won't start.
