Hi everyone. Just joined up but I've been lurking around for a while. I have had my X1 (F48) for 18 months now & thought it's about time to talk about my experiences. However I notice the F48 posts are.. well, a bit lacking to say the least . I guess the X's don't get the loving attention that the Zeds do? Anyway, I find my X1 suits my needs perfectly, particularly when taking my dog out. I do have a couple of niggles with it but I'll cover these later. Not the best pic but here we go:
All the best, Dave

Dave.
Nice to see something little different to the X5s and X3s that are the majority on the forum.
I have to say that as a long-standing BMW owner/advocate, I find the concept of a transverse engined BMW a little "alien". How do you find it?

Re: Hello from Derbyshire
Thanks for the welcome .
Well I've had many different makes & models over the years. Some have been front wheel drive, transverse engine & some conventional rear wheel drive. TBH I don't really have an issue with either but I do find that rear wheel drive is much more engaging to drive. I'm quite happy with the way the X1 feels though for a small SUV. I made a point of not having runflat tyres as I found them a nightmare on my Z4 & quickly got those changed, unbelievable difference. I decided on the xdrive as the roads can get a bit difficult around here if the snow comes. I've not tried the equivalent sdrive so not sure if that would feel any different? Mine's the 2.0 petrol which I find silky smooth especially with the 8 speed auto box.

Welcome, your car is a great colour, you might be glad of it this week if the forecast snow arrives.

Re: Hello from Derbyshire
Thanks all .
Yes I like it, don't see too many about that colour though there's a 1 series near me that I keep seeing.
No major issues to speak of but I did have to replace both front tyres just last week. Car's only done just over 13k miles & the nearside outer edge of the tyre was totally worn out . The rest of the tyre & the offside tyre had about 3mm left all over Rears 5 to 6mm of tread on them so no issues with them. So I bought a pair of replacements exact same spec & had them fitted locally & then a full Hunter alignment check. Can you believe everything is within spec so what's going on there . I've read that they are a bit heavy on the front tyres but to have to replace them at that mileage seems ridiculous to me let alone the expense .

Re: Hello from Derbyshire
X5's e70s chew the nearside front outers too so nothing to worry about,it's probably caused by the weight and roundabouts. However large variations in tread depth front to rear strains the 4wd system so variations of over 3mm are best to avoided.
