Joining the F15 Club
Joining the F15 Club
Been a long time since I had my E70 - currently running an 8v RS3 which I’m about to part exchange for this.
RS3 has been absolutely spot on but soon to get a second dog, it’s no longer big enough.
Very much looking forward to a return to X5 ownership.
Lots of spec, ruby black, reverse cam, pano roof, winter pack, 20” wheels, digital dash, 7 seater, professional nav, memory seats.

Yeah German Shepherd number one - number two will arrive later this year!
My RS3 has similar coloured interior so I'm prepared for the constant pampering required

Re: Joining the F15 Club
Stunning looking car, had a 335d estate with same colour interior.
Suspect you'll be cleaning the outside fairly frequently as well.
Enjoy your new car and your new arrival

Cheers Wayfarer - I'm a detailing freak so looking forward to giving it a decent going over and coating with a light ceramic to help protect the paint.
Re: Joining the F15 Club
Look forward to reading all about how and what you use to keep it clean and shiny, mine is mineral white, and at this time if years almost needs washing every time it goes out!
I just use Autoglym wash wax and aqua wax every so often, but be interested in whether the ceramics and other coatings actually work.

Re: Joining the F15 Club
My routine is basically this which takes about a day and a half depending on the state of the paint:
Wash
Clay
Heavy(ish) Cut polish using a DA polisher
Final polish (assuming the finish is ok or its 3 stage polish) using a DA polisher
Residue wipe down with IPA solution
Tac Systems Moonlight (very light ceramic)
Allow to dry - cant come into contact with water for at least 6 to 8 hours
Then future washing is basically:
Wash
Geon Wet Coat
Dry
Lasts 6 to nine months with that routine if you are careful with the polishing stage - granted that was on the RS3 and not on a monster truck like an X5 which is going to take significantly more effort due to the size alone!
On youtube there is a guy called forensic detailing - fairly light hearted doesnt take himself too seriously and gives some decent advice for novice people like me!

Re: Joining the F15 Club
Heck
Thats a lot of work, but probably worth it, I get to stage 1 - wash, then occasional Aqua wax and buff!!! then once or twice a year a polish with Autoclym super resin polish, normally at the start of the warmer weather and again before winter.
Maybe have to get some prices from a detailer, there is a guy in Buxton fairly near to me who has a good reputation
