You can't see a leaking injector sorry.
It's the tip that leaks you need to get a leak-off test done on them.
Not a bmw but this video will show you what the test is.

You say it starts spot on from cold so it's not the glow-plugs.
It is the injectors or the cam-sensor my money is on the injectors.
What garage did the scan as if it was done with bmw kit it would have shown a fault code apart from the glow-plugs witch i wouldn't bother changing for now money down the drain as it starts cold.
Put that money to getting a bmw indi with the correct kit to do a scan and a leak test on the injectors.

Glow plugs won’t be used for starting at the moment, but they are needed for regenerating the DPF. Loss of a single plug will stop that from happening (though oddly some variants and years are reported to be unaffected). When you get the plugs changed, get a new controller at the same time or you may have to go back a few weeks later to get that job done too.
Plugs on the E70 are prone to snapping in the head. It’s fixable without taking the head off, but lubricating them well before getting the job done should help. I had two snap and two threads strip on mine earlier this year. All fixed with Helicoils and new plugs installed with high temperature ceramic grease (something BMW should have done at build) which should prevent any issues next time they fail.
Whether a blocking DPF has any impact on warm starting I don’t know. All I can say is mine is much happier now
