I'm new to this forum, and want to thanks the members for all the information I founded already by reading several posts.
I currently own an X 3.0D from end 2005, and wanted to install the parking heater.
I did enable it on the OBD with the the BMW scanner V1.4.0, installed the telestart T91 in the trunk, and it's working but ...
the Webasto fires up, it lasts a good minute; and when the glowplug switches to sensing mode the combustion fan suddenly stops.
After that white smokes exits the Webasto air-intake, then the fan starts again (shutdown cycle).
The fault I got from the BMW scanner is "combustion fan".
from the previous post I realised that it might be that the Webasto is not guilty but the climate control unit is.
it's part number 6.972.163 which is not for cars with parking heater, so I should upgrade to a new (expensive!) climate control unit.
Now I notice that when its cold weather the Webasto starts (as it is supposed to do to help warming up the engine only) but after a minute or two shuts down as it is doing when used as a parking heater.
in this case it has nothing to do with the climate control unit

Also it seems that several members got the parking aux heater working without changing this climate control.
Is it because there has been a change between pre-facelift and post-facelift X5 ?
Anyone with an answer will help me (and others I suppose) a lot !
Sorry for this lengthy post
