Big Feet & Driving Shoes

Post by X5Sport » Mon Mar 07, 2011 4:49 pm

A little off the wall, but I'll ask anyway as some of you may have done a bit of MotorSport in the past.

I'm trying to get around a problem I have with most cars in that I have big & wide feet (no remarks please!! - not that any plea for clemency will make any difference with you folks  ) and I tend to catch the brake pedal slightly when I actually want to accelerate. It seems to be more prevalent in the X6 and given that car has powerful brakes does cause a bit of a jerk when I do it. Makes me feel like a jerk too... :?

So I thought I would try to find some Driving Boots/Shoes which have narrow soles and are therefore less likely to catch another pedal. I need to find UK size 14 or 14.5, and therein lies the issue. I've tried all the usual offenders like Puma, Sparco, Adidas, Alpinestars and a few others but they don't go above UK 13, which though long enough are not wide enough.

Do any of you know any other manufacturers who make decent shoes/boots that might be suitable? I've come across Piloti which look good but I know nothing about them for quality.

Any helpful tips gratefully received. Suggestions for snow shoes, skis, amputations or giving the X6 away will be ignored.... :D :D :x

I got some driving boots for track days in my kitcar a few years back. I think they were Sparco ones, bought from Demon Tweeks, in a size 14 or 15 (I take Euro 49 or 50). IIRC they were special order but came quite quickly. In fact I might brave a dig around in the garage to make sure I don't still have them.............

Couldn't drive my Boxster, big and wide feet. Until I bought a pair of Puma Drift Cats. "Other makes are available"

There is a simple and apparently only since I haven't tested, solution:

I have size 18 feet and I have to order most of my stuff from the states so it might be worthwhile looking over-seas.

https://www.adidas.co.uk/gsg-9.7-boots/G62307.html

they have adidas gsg in your size .
you can have the taller boot if you prefer

The original swat hawk has a narrow sole and yet it is wide fitting . There are waterproof and lighweight versions available , not sure if you can get them without side zip but I have lightweight sidezip which are wider fitting than anything I have tried and yet they leave more space between the throttle and brake than any other boot I know of appart from the likes of reebok buck or reebok lightweight boxing boots and these are very good for driving but I think thereebok only go to size 13 .

Here is the EN version I have up to size 16 and can be bought extra wide fitting .You can find them next day delivery on Amazon . Amazon have an alternative log in site called smileamazonuk where they will contribute to a charity of your choice on eligible purchases .

These have the same narrow sole , there is also a 6 inch boot with the same sole .

I know it’s an old thread and I’m sure your feet will be the same size as before .
I can recommend the reebok exofit hi or lo .

Mind those original swat hawk boots are good though they might seem like high heels until you get used to them .
The swat hawk can be bought with extra wide fitting in your normal size .
