Another good looking one... fixed!
Following all my servicing and the rocker cover gasket replacement, I finally got chance to give the X a good wash this weekend. No detailing, just a quick post winter wash and I am pleased with how it came up. Will give it a full detail in the spring, but it's held up great since last year...

Another good looking one...
Cheers. I think the X6 wheels help it look newer aswell, but the paint is pretty mint after last years detailing.
The bull bar is a factory fit option from new so was on when i bought the car. Quite like it actually.

Thought the wheels looked neat, are all four same size or stepped ?
Never seen one of those bars before, yes i like also. Stainless then painted i guess ?

Another good looking one...
The wheels are staggered.
9 on the front 11 on the rear I think.
Tyre size is OEM E53 X5 size for 20s.
The "bull bar" is actually a plastic covering over some sort of metal bars underneath. I think it would be more of protection from bumping a wall or something in a carpark than it would against a bull. LOL

I like the bullbar. i thought it was banned because, in an accident if you were to hit any pedestrians then it might do more damage. I could be wrong. Does anyone know anything about it. If there is no rule then I might go about fitting one.

I think it was back in the 90's that metal ones were banned, I know some manufacturers fitted plastic versions which never looked very good, but that one looks good.

Re: Another good looking one...
I don't believe they were ever "banned", but due to changing European regulations, no OEM manufacturers manufactured them any longer (Land Rover stopped around 2001/2 or so - I still managed to get one for my P38). You can still find some used OEM versions around for various models. If non-OEM, it would definitely be classed as a modification with insurance repercussions - and if a pedestrian were to be injured / killed by impact with an aftermarket bar, it could be a complex legal minefield for the defence if a prosecution was mounted for whatever reason. I'm still of the opinion that pedestrians really should not be trying to meet with the front end of cars travelling at any speeds, bull bars or not - so many of them just barge around the roads in an orgy of jay-walking at inappropriate / non-pedestrian crossing places with headphones plugged into ears engrossed into listening to ipod etc....... Its not illegal to fit bull bars though, albeit inadvisable ..........

Re: Another good looking one...
Cheers guys.
I am getting happier with the car, never did like the standard 19's, but didn't want it to not look OEM.
Nothing more to do on the exterior apart from some new B pillar trims I have sat waiting to replace the two with tiny marks on them.
Replacement of the door seal and sorting out the boot switch mean everything is done in that department.
Chassis wise I have now done all the front end, thrust arms (with powerflex bushes), new lower control arms and had a full 4 wheel alignment done.
Still not happy with the amount of rear camber as its eating rear tyres so I am going to check the rear wishbones, but also look at options for camber adjustment.
Will also do the rear subframe bushes at some point, before they start deteriorating.
Engine wise, I have just done a full service, plugs, oil, filters etc.. but the nicest thing to have done was the rocker cover gaskets which has been on my mind for a while since I did the PCV hoses.
Slowly working my way through the "common" X5 issues, mostly before they become an issue which I prefer.

I have to admit to enjoying a nice ride and not thinking about every catseye and bump in the road after 15 years of low cars
Do want something for the weekend to chuck about and take to shows/track days though
