Hi

I am asking about BMW goodwill if it still is applicable and was it a failing part or just a problem as recently I put in a request and was unfortunately turned down due to the age of the car which is 6 years old, even though it was an approved used BMW.

Although it was not a failing part which I am sure my BMW extended warranty would have covered the problem appears to be down to someone working on the car and cross threading a road wheel bolt, but I'm not sure who and when and I suspect it may well have even occurred before I bought the vehicle.

I would expect it - if the garage does something that causes further damage to the car, they should be responsible for damage they have caused and thus pay for it. Taking a car to someone for it to be repaired, you are expected to foot the bill of the repair alone and not foot someone else's mistake.

BMW are changing my gearbox at the moment, they are paying 70% towards it as they didn't fix it properly when it was under warranty (warranty finished in November) the car is 9 years old now.
Have you spoke to BMW UK?

I agree Nehal yes if a garage does it wrong they shouldn't repair it but a small I can't prove who should responsible.

Whether the original supplying BMW dealer who replaced several tyres, the BMW dealer I purchase the car off who was supposed to redo th wheels but didn't or the wheel Specialist who I have used about six times with no problems to refurbish the wheels and they do work for Asron Martin.

Jay yes been in contact but unfortunately it's not a manufacturing fault or failure, and so far BMW have said no to any goodwill even when asked to review their decision as the car is too old.

Therefore I asked for their policy and have received an email with the outline of goodwill and I do have an extended warranty but it doesn't cover this problem.

So I an going to be contacting the local dealer principal to ask if he can help with any further reduction onthe cost of this unexpected repair.

This what they said about goodwill

When the warranty expires, we don’t usually help with the repair cost unless a BMW Insured Warranty is purchased. But, if a BMW Centre is sure that the problem is down to a manufacturing fault, they may make a case for us to help. Whether we do offer a contribution, and how much, depends on a number of factors such as:

· The fault
· The car’s age and mileage
· Service history
· Ownership history


So unfortunately I am havin to foot the bill on this one
