E53 rare?

Post by Themoog2 » Sat Mar 30, 2019 5:15 am

Is it me or the area where I live that X5 E53s seem to be thin on the ground?
I very rarely see another one and when I do they stand out from the crowd. What's your thoughts..

They are a slowly fading sight around here too. But with the youngest being almost 13 I guess it is to be expected. Most of what I see are facelifted ones now, and some of those are pretty tatty. Shame as it is still a good looking design.

And I've just been to view another 2005 4.4 as I've thought about changing mine. It wasn't a bad car- if you don't know them inside out like I do - but it just was in as good condition as mine or different enough to make me want to buy it even though its 3 years newer.
And I only saw one E53 on the whole trip there and back..

I told you they are a rare sight. I've been in Dubai for 3 days and obviously there are lots of new X5's but I have yet to see an E53. I've noticed that there are a lot of the old Mercedes ML's about tho..

Hi all,

Just a thought, i have a 55 plate sports exclusive sat on my drive at home. She was replaced by a F15 a couple of weeks ago and thinking of selling when i get back home. Seen lots of modified types but mines a standard sports exclusive. If interested drop me a pm.

Cheers,

Pete

There are a few pre face lift as well as face lift E53s around me and even one the same colour as mine, although it is a 3.0d.

Maybe I'm seeing them now as I have one of my own :D

Great car and served us well, even in the horrendous weather up in Aberdeenshire.

Keep her well maintained and she will serve you well. Only thing i will say is to keep an eye on the back tyres (alignment). This need attention if like me you do a lot of motorway miles.

Hi Pete,
Yes i do actually which worries me having expensive 20 inch alloys fitted when i bought the car it seems very figity on the road i checked the tyre pressures which were 40psi front and 45 on rears i have now lowered the fronts to 32 psi and the rears to 35 it now drives like a different car :D
Cheers,
Chas.

A ha!
After several days of seeing Lambos, mercs, Suburbans and Toyota 4x4 an E53 in silver rolled up to the valet parking this morning. A 4.4 no less and immaculate condition with all windows black - even the windscreen. I know I'm biased but it did stand out and looked sort of retro cool old school V8 SUV. Mind you, I don't think I've seen a diesel car / truck here - they all seem to be V8 or V6. The place is crazy..

Tried all sorts of tyres on mine and found the 19" suited her best especially with motorways. Had a set of 18" for offroad and winter which worked well, in the rough stuff. Think i still have a set of winter alloys at the house down south, will have to have a look when next down.

I don't see many of them around anymore either. There are a couple around where I live that have been absolutely ruined with aftermarket Chrome Trim around every part of the car, or terrible wheels put on etc.

Mine is a rare one by the sounds of it, completely standard 4.8is still with BMW Warranty! It will be selling in the next few weeks.
