COUPLE OF ISSUES

Post by Denis O » Sat Mar 05, 2011 9:48 am

Got the new beasty home yesterday and from Billingshurst to Biddenden it averaged 35.7mpg according top the OBC. After 16mpg on the old Disco this frugal natured car is a whole new world to me. I certainly won't be knocking it though.

Couple of minor issues on the journey back:

1). I seem to remember on the old 4.6 the scale on the SATNAV maps would change automatically; slow speed it would be 150yds and fast speed 1mile or 2.5 miles. This one stays where it is set. I'm using Micks G's 2011 maps and V32 voice with speed cameras set on, if that makes a difference.

2). My HTC Desire HD pairs with no problem but doesn't download the address book. I'm guessing it's one of those phones that doesn't have full compatibility. I did try to dial home with the Nav controls and although the number was entered correctly I got through to a completely different number. When I dialed home from the phone address book itself it got through correctly.

Really enjoying the car so far.......all 68 miles

Dennis - glad to see you have the new car. I don't recall the map scale changing automatically with the speed of the vehicle, the only exception perhaps being when approaching a junction when the nav system is guiding you.

Can't help with the HTC desire issue - I used an acient nokia 6310i and that had pretty good compatibility. Ironic that the newer the phone the worse the compatibility seemed to get!. Sigh...

Re the Bluetooth issues..... you could try:

1) Completely wiping out the BT memory (similar process pairing, but you keep the talking head button pressed for 10 seconds after it goes into pairing mode, and when you get 2 beeps, the memory has been cleared).

2) Delete all SMS from your phone

3) Try pairing again.

If that doesn't work then it may just be that the phone is not 100% compatible with the older technology. I copied my phone book to a PAYG sim in the end, and used a Sony Ericsson k800i, which is 100% compatible with phone book and SMS display as well, and you can get a snap in adapter for the cradle for it. We tend to forget these cars are upwards of 5 years old now and BT technology has changed and is not entirely backwards compatible in every aspect..........

I have a HTC Desire HD and the phonebook works ok with my X! Try to uninstall the phone and try again!
