The recall is in regards to car fires due to leakage from the EGR cooler,
Dealers remove inspect, if due replacement, I believe it’s a car off the road whilst parts are supplied, due to the volume of cars needing parts, there’s a long wait!
Other forums report 4-6 weeks in hire cars
Though best having it booked in soonest

it was booked in for the work in December and promised they would have a car for me to use.
No cars were available on the day it went in, so they booked me a car through Enterprise.
To be honest I might miss the fully loaded 7 series when I get my car back

Best of luck with that one!marti wrote: Sat Mar 09, 2019 11:51 am5 weeks wouldn't be acceptable to me for sure..if I get a recall I will make sure they have the parts in before they get my car.

I've got a holiday booked 4 weeks after my recall is due. If the parts supply hasn't sped-up by then, I'm cancelling until after the holiday. I'm buggered if I'm going on holiday in some pile of non-BMW litter - which is what the majority seem to be getting from Enterprise.

Enterprise were most helpful with hire car......volvo xc60(not great!) but better than the 3 series they offered 1st, the dog wasn't happy about going in the boot of a saloon car.
This is all ok accept we purchased the X3 as a tow car for all our family holidays caravaning, you can't get a hire car with a tow bar unless using a specialist company which BMW wont pay for! I missed half term away as no tow car, Easter, May half term and 15 nights in the South of France are all booked away!!!
Some customers have booked cars in just for oil service and then been told their cars are affected by the safety recall and they cant have them back!!

When I went in a few weeks ago they told me that they wouldn't speculate on specific cars, but that the majority of the ones they have seen have needed rectification. Their official line is "Parts are on mega back-order. If your car needs parts, BMW will provide transport while your car is off the road.".mark hamster 28 wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2019 11:16 amThey did say to me when I dropped car off this morning that mine will more than likely be ok
