Can anybody confirm from experience if the 17" X5 wheels will fit onto a 2005 E53 3.0D? Thanks (it came with 19", and we'd like to go down on wheel diameter to open up the tyres options)

Check the spare. If it's a 17” then you are fine. I think it’s only the V8 (maybe only the 4.8is) cars that need larger wheels due to the larger size of the front brakes.

From memory, my 2005 X5 had a 17” spare so they must fit.

I would say yes as the spare on my 3.0d is 17"
