Don’t fancy having a go yourself?

You anywhere near Derby, I can do it for you as I do all my own stuff.

I’m also a 40d owner.

Was quoted £800 for a main service at a main dealer a few weeks back.  Had it done by a local Indy with OEM parts.  £90 labour, £265 parts (oil, oil filter, cabin filters, fuel filter, air filter, brake fluid replaced).  MOT done at the same time.  Total £396.

It was done on age (8 years) not mileage (42k).

I had air filter and oil and filter changed on my F10 for £140.
My E70 is going for a oil service tomorrow for £57 which is cheaper than cost.
This is at a main dealer Ford garage. They stamp the service book too.
I can ask how much for a major service tmrw and see what they say. I reckon not more than £300.

They probably don’t have to charge the £220/hr that our local BMW Dealer does.

Full major service including air filter pollen filter and fuel filter and oil change : non Bmw parts but 5w30 Castrol edge for £200.
With bmw parts it’s £300.
Top garage. Can change differential oil and transfer box oil for £300. Although no service interval for that unless issues with it.

Was actually £53 with Castrol 5w30. If anyone in Yorkshire wants to use garage it’s Polar Ford garage t/a Quick Lane. I’m going for all service here as major service will only be £200.Image

Thats a fantastic price, and no labour charge :) Well worth it for an oil and filter change. At that price it's worth getting it done yearly or in-between bigger services.

Adam, that oil price seems remarkably low or am I misreading your bill?  My 2007 E70 takes 7.5l (with new filter) of fully synthetic oil. Castrol recommend 0W-30 Edge which is about £15 per litre, totals £112.50.  What make of oil is your garage using and is it fully synthetic?

Mine had a service in January 18 but I decided to have another oil change now since I’d just bought the car last week. At that price I will be having it done every year as I do short runs mainly.
Cracking price for major service too as parts will cost nearly £200.

Yep it’s Castrol 5w30 which is fully synthetic. They must have large containers. The cheapest I’ve had oil service for my 5 series was around £65 at auto tyres so this is very good for X5.

They used 030 for my 5 series but used 5W30 for X5. I think Bmw recently changed it to 030 but 5w30 is still ok as long as it’s LL04.
