finally got a X5

Post by richjt » Sun Feb 27, 2011 8:33 am

I finally picked up my X5 on Friday, I have gone for the 4.4 sport in silver 2002 with 78000 miles, full BMW history with stamps and receipts all previous mot's,sat-nav,comms pack, xenon's,it's also got the cage that goes behind the rear seats and the parcel shelf which was missing on quite a few i'd looked at, the lady selling has put 12 months mot(on Friday morning) and 6 months tax for me.

I was on the verge of giving up with some of the rubbish i'd seen on my travels with prices ranging from £9999-13999.

I'd agreed a price on one from a trader on ebay black diesel with 137000 give him £200 deposit then he wouldn't let me have a copy of an hpi report he'd got said it was his only copy(thinking to myself that's strange after i've given you £200) hpi'd it myself the next day turned out it had been in Germany for the first three years of it's life the vin no. didn't match the reg plate and the engine no. came back as not found my still battling to get my deposit back as he got very aggressive when i mentioned the issues

saw a 4.4 with 55000 miles on a Y plate which i checked the mileage to be genuine hpi'd it CAT D the lady was that shocked they have put it through the auction

The one i purchased was the cheapest we'd looked at i was very surprised when we viewed it i thought it was going to be rubbish for the money it turned out to be the tidiest we'd seen it (hpi clear when i checked it) i paid £7800 for it

Glad you stuck with it, and your comments about checking the HPI records serves as a valuable warning to all. If you can clean it between the showers, be nice to see pics

Welcome aboard.
It pays to research and check things.
Took me 3 months to find my X.

Well done on what sounds to be a good find. Enjoy the cleaning (takes hours) but enjoy the car.
