When examined car yesterday the car date and time had to be entered as the battery was disconnected and I could not check control messages in the Idrive.
Do you think this is normal. Would a dealer need to disconnect the battery or is it just to hide fault codes on the car.
Do Obd readers read codes that are deleted in this way?.
I used carly and read 16 faults which had not been cleared and then when cleared there was only one in relation to glow plugs and controller.
Please let me know if you have any advice as I’m plannning to buy the car tomorrow and hopefully don’t want to part with cash if I get a problematic car even though it’s under so called warranty.

Battery disconnect and fault codes.
Re: Battery disconnect and fault codes.
Only usual need to pull the battery would be to change the glow plugs and controller to fix what you found. A drive around the block will find anything, and I’m pretty sure that a disconnect does not clear the memory down. If it’s clear then it has been cleared deliberately.
