Re: X5 tax help
Hi
Any car after March 2006 was based on the emissions see link to dvla below.
So some earlier X5's are higher emissions above 225kgm level and so have £500+ road tax where as the later year cars are just £300 ish.
So if you find a car it's worth doing a check to see what level it is before purchase

Re: X5 tax help
Not sure I understand the question. You say “across the e70 range”, but also say you’re looking at x5ms.
The e70 x5m on any age will be £555 to tax. I think all the other petrols will be £540 - £555. Some diesels may fall into the £300ish bracket.

Re: X5 tax help
Early E70 diesels fall into the higher tax bands -I think 2006-2008 models. Later ones not. All X5Ms do as stated.
Did you mean X5M or the E70 Msport models?

When we were looking for our X6 we found that even the diesels were in different tax brackets depending on the year and model. A 2007 X5 30d is £540 a year to tax where a 2010 40d is £290 a year to tax.

Re: X5 tax help
That’s because the 2010 cars had a new engine (N57 in place of the M57), turbos and emissions controls and improved efficiency so neatly taking them downband for tax.
Petrol cars have not had the same changes, part of the reason for petrol new cars getting Gasoline Particulate Filters from this Summer. At the top end of the emissions bands - such as the X5M the tax just gets steadily higher!

Re: X5 tax help
Sounds right. It’s what I did when ordering my X6.
It was your heart typing X5M, and your head missed out on the absent space between X5 and M >:D
You know you really want a V8 twin turbo O:-)

Re: X5 tax help
Haha!! My heart would love the X5M, my other car is the e90 m3, the X5M would sit with it beautifully!
Re: X5 tax help
Even before full LCI, they made some engine changes, my one is pre LCI 2009 and still got cheaper tax bracket 260 or so. So it depends what engine you get. most pre 2008 E70 will have 500+
