Steering wheel lock (for 2011 E70 X5)

Post by ugene425 » Tue Jul 03, 2018 8:39 am

I have decided to not go down the tracker route but instead buy one of these for peace of mind for my 2011 X5, given it will be parked on the road by my house.

Does anyone have any recommendations, and ones which the lock does not mark or damage the steering wheel?

I have had a look on Halfords and Amazon and there seem a few available.

Thank you.

Either a Stoplock Pro or Disklok seem to be the only two that defeat attacks for more than 5 minutes.  Auto Express tested a few recently.

Direct Line told me last night that they now require trackers on all cars with a rrp above £100k, all Range Rover models and the X6 - which have suddenly become popular with certain parts of the community.  X5’s only need them in certain parts of the country - or if the rrp exceeds £100k.

I had a small size Disklok in my garage from when I had my Stag (before my E85) as paranoia set in when I got home in the E70, I dug it out of the garage - PERFECT fit, and peace of mind. Takes 10 secs to fit/remove once you've done it a couple of times and is supposed to be one of the more thief resistant ones. Have to say though, that since disabling my OBD port, I've gotten lazy and only use it overnight or when leaving unattended away from home for the day.
