Control unit fault?  Can’t be much else left except sensors or wiring.

IHKA module.....

They are known to fail.

Someone else on here had an issue on their E70 and had to get a second hand one and try it.  New ones are over £500  :cry1: :cry1:

Unless an error code is being logged to give a clue, swapping it seemed (in that case) the only option.  Not ideal.

I recently replaced my IHKA module, symptoms were no cold air, no ability to adjust fan speed, fan still running after switch off, on occasions not lighting up, I’m sure there were others. Most things pointed to FSR which I replaced but didn’t cure. Bought a second hand IHKA on line and all is good.
On the regas front I’m not convinced they vacuumed the system enough, you must have said on the second regas that you only had it done a few days ago which should have prompted them to vacuum at least 30 minutes and then stand at least 30 minutes to see if it held the vacuum.
I would be amazed if a manafacturer was allowed to fit a PRV to the system and allow it to vent to atmosphere. My understanding is that if the pressure gets to high (not being cooled by the fan coming on)it switches the compressor off. ie cuts the power to the compressor clutch. If I’m wrong then please educate me.

I do sympathise with you, when doing my other car and questioning the a/c outlets as to what they would do I didn’t find anyone who filled me with confidence, bearing in mind that anything you/they do requires a regas to check. Then potentially it needs emptied to do anything else, very quickly becomes expensive. Most places are set up to plug in a machine which does a cycle to do a car that simply needs a regas/top up because of time.

Not that we’ve ever seen a sign of......and based on others experiences with BMW GB I doubt that they would be of any use anyway. As with most other manufacturers UK centres they just don’t see any of this as their problem.

>:(......3 months down the line and STILL no aircon. . . it's now throwing the aircon drive belt off so that's to sort out before we can go any further. >:(

Car now been in garage last 4 days this week and no further forward than I was 3 months ago.

I just cannot understand, why no one can mend a fridge.

Whirlpool engineers will mend and re-gas 4 - a - day !

You have to get a dye added, if pressure is down every time it must be leaking, needs a dye to be able to see where.

It's not that its leaking henry old boy....It just won't get cold !

It's had everything thrown at it.

I dare say BMW would have a chance if they fit a new £700 compressor, a new £350 fan, new sensors and their £70 an hour labour charge.

But don't want to spend another  two  and a half grand with them on top of what I've already spent.
