Hi
I’ve just acquired a set of genuine BMW roof bars for my X5 but didn’t get the instruction booklet. I’ve had a go at fitting them but there’s a gap I’m not sure should be there. It’s a closed bar (M Sport) and I’m 99.9% sure I’ve got the right bars but could someone confirm? If not are there any generous people who have an instruction booklet mind scanning it (or taking photos) and sending me a copy?
Thanks
Mike

Genuine roof bar fitting
Re: Genuine roof bar fitting
That doesn’t look right
For reference, I have my rear bar located at the rearmost door gap, allbeit some one say I have them set too far apart
In your case, if you remove the rear bar, unscrewing the clamp fully, on the underside, at each end, you’ll find x2 bolt heads that run on elongated holes to allow adjustment, loosen these and offer bars back in rail, ensuring the pad sits flush
If possible nip up the bolts, then remove and tighten refit bars and recheck footplates
Unfortunately, I can’t provide pictures sorries
Note : I also tighten my bars in stages, two turns alternate sides holding the clamp under the rim of the bar until torqued circa 7nm with the fitting tool

Thank you for that, I will check tomorrow. I’m now doubting if I’ve even got the right rail version - I need flush. Can you tell from the pics? Unfortunately all of the stickers have come off.

Any part numbers still visible?
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Genuine roof bar fitting
Unfortunately not. I was hoping it would be possible to tell from the design of the fitments but after spending some time on eBay etc looking at pics closed vs open roof bars I can’t tell the difference!

Re: Genuine roof bar fitting
Realoem only shows one type for your car.

The fitting instructions have the code EBA 0404321
I haven’t found a copy on line, but any decent BMW dealership will supply a copy if you ask nicely

I’d agree, those bars are for the raised Se type rails
After zooming in on the picture & focusing on the lower plate, that’s definately different and not correctly seated to the rail, mine sits almost flush to the rail and has a small locating tab.
Whereas by your picture there appears to be a large rubber footplate on the lower side
