Mot brake test

Post by themoog » Wed Apr 25, 2018 3:00 pm

Mine has just passed the mot but it got me wondering how the E53 is brake tested. I forgot to ask at the garage but i assume its a road test if they only have two rollers?

My E53 was tested by the local test station on a single roller.  E71 goes to BMW.....

Sorry I did mean single axle roller. How can that work if the E53 is permanent 4WD? At least I think it is.

It’s basically an accel/decel meter.  BMW do mine as they have a twin roller system.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

As it permanent 4wd if the garage do not have a twin axle roller set up then they should use the decelerometer for th brake test. Some have the old Tapley still and some have more modern takes on the same thing.
