Power steering rack

Doing the cv joint gaitor today,i caught the gaitor on yhe steering rack with my prybar,and starting leaking fluid,so obviously that aint right'so assume its a new rack.does anyone know to a how to for this for the 3.0d engine 2004.all under panels are removed ready which was another mare of a job.there aint 1 bolt on this b*****d car that hasent given me a fight.

Can you not replace the oil seal on the end of the rack. Don’ like to think what a rack will cost. I ask because l’ve done that but it was on an old school car which were built to be repaired.

Sid10 has got a rack advertised if things are that bad.  It’s probably a rack out job to change the seal, and could well involve deeper surgery to get the seal out and then replaced.

Yeah sid10 has already been in touch.i have replied to his message but heard nothing back yet.had a price for a re con today for £280.
