Swap M50d for 650i Convertible?

Post by RichM50d » Thu Jun 28, 2018 4:59 pm

I've been offered a virtual swap (mine and a small amount of money) for an 18 plate 650i M Sport convertible with 9 miles on the clock, and most options included.

On the one hand, there's a new X5 coming, so now could be a good time to jump ship, temporarily, but then the 6 Series is about to be replaced by the 8 Series, even though there's no info on the new convertible yet.

Am I mad? What would you lot do?

Go for the convertible every time.  It’s why we kept our E46.

It’s tempting. But knowing my luck, the arse will fall out of the residuals of the 650!

Has anyone on here had one?

Tempting deal indeed! I am contemplating swapping to a 2016 M6 Competition package, with 10.000 km and 4 (!) years AUC warranty, but I have to throw in 27500 euro on top, so not that tempting really financially.

I'd go for the convertible, partly cos the sun is shining and partly cos there's a new x5 coming out soon. Also I bet the new 8 series convertible won't be available until quite some time after the hard top comes out. Ideally you'd want to sell it next summer...

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end

Fate has intervened, and they’ve sold the car to someone else. Oh well!

Hi

That's a shame I was about to say you should ask for it on a 3 month trial just in case you didn't like having the roof down in the sunny weather  :))

Hi
I was down the BMW dealers today and there was a 2018 M4 convertible in the pale blue it did look good and had a cool speedo with 200mph but as I already have a convertible even if it's an Abarth I guess I'll stick with the X5

Whilst there they also had a 2018 X5 M50d but in it was ruby black and it looked amazing in the sunlight.

If I could find a pre reg M4 Competition convertible with similar discounts, I’d be very tempted

We looked at an M4 convertible yesterday and they do have silly discounts on them don’t they!  £14k off.

Unfortunately just not a practical option with small person and a 60-mile commuter trip every day.  :cry1:  Maybe next time around.....or when I retire (assuming SWMBO permits me to  :(  )

The Gran Tourer will have to do for now, but we do have the E46 ‘vert’ to fall back in in this weather.
