Map north facing

I normally have the map displayed on the small split screen on the right, and on all my other BMW's there was a 'map north facing' option. I can't see it on here, so is there something that needs activating to display it?

Nobody? Looking again, there is a north facing option, but the map goes from side to side, rather than in the direction of travel.

There should be an arrow shaped icon
Press down on the idrive and you should be able to scroll through three options
Direction of travel, north orientated or perspective

Yep, tried that but it ain’t there. All my other BMW’s have had Nav and it was there, but not this one.

I'm not following - what do you mean by "the map goes from side to side"? If the option youve selected is north facing and you are going East or West isnt that how its meant to be? Sorry if I'm missing the point.

I want the map in the direction of travel, so from bottom to top, but none of the options will do that.

Yep, that’s what I meant! But the direction of travel still has the map north facing!

It's definitely in there, about 2 or 3 from the bottom on the list of options. The list is shown on the left hand side of the screen, small square icons. Let me know if you still can't find it and I'll do a video for you

On my new car it says in the manual that it is the bottom left of the screen and has 4 choices.  Moving (tilting) the controller to the left activates the side menu and allows (once that symbol is highlighted and selected) choosing from direction of travel, North Up, direction with a ring around it and perspective view.

Depending upon level of equipment fitted there is also auto-zooming and a couple of other choices.

Found it! I had to go into the settings to activate the option, so now have the proper map displayed. Thanks all.
