Angel eyes

Post by ugene425 » Sat Jun 16, 2018 8:30 am

Hello
Does anyone know what year/reg plate on the E70 (2nd gen) X5 the angel eyes were upgraded from the amber colour to the ice white?
Is upgrading from amber to the latter possible in a garage or is it very expensive to do so? I guess the white lights don't offer much better visibility from the amber, they just look aesthetically improved!
Thank you

I think that you mean E70?

LED lamp units were started in 2010 (when the LCI version was released).  They use different had,Ishtar units and electronics so likely to be very expensive as the lamp units are around £1k each!

If you have Xenon lamps then you can buy LED bulbs to go in, or MTEC blue filtered H8 35W filament bulbs.

Nothing on the market will give you the brightness of the LCI units.  Lots of threads on here about it.

Your right I do  ;)

Can you point me in the right direction please? I am wondering whether after parting with £17,000 cash if paying another lump on the angel eyes upgrade is worth it. Probably not as car comes with xenons regardless!

I fitted these for a friend yesterday as he didn't have Xenon and changing the halo bulbs is a real PITA. These are well priced and look the part.
