Apple carplay
Apple carplay
Dear readers
Has anyone fitted the above to a second gen X5? I am likely to buy a 2008 or 09 plate and therefore Airplay won't be a feature. Having got an Iphone X does anyone know they best way of streaming music to the car?
Thank you.

Re: Apple carplay
My Family and kids all have Iphones. I have the media pack with bluetooth audio. I stream from google play previously and now amazon music. I think the car holds up to 4 bluetooth devices at any time which you can add and remove., so the kids usually play DJ from the back. I am not sure if the media package is the only option have bluetooth streaming capability. I also copy all my older CD's to the hard drive. Its got a 80GB hard disk which you can copy from the internal CD player or USB drive ( Not actually tested that function myself yet)
Re: Apple carplay
Thank you. What does the media pack include on these models? I thought Bluetooth was fitted as standard.
Re: Apple carplay
I am not 100% sure as all the X5's I looked at had the media package.
Others may correct me but I think with media pack you get.
Pro Sat Nav - with a wider screen
Bluetooth streaming Audio / Phone
80GB internal hard drive for storing your music
DVD player
USB - not sure if this is part of it but I have it in the glove box

Thanks.
Another question do these models (2nd gen M sport X5) come with 'memory seats' as standard?

Re: Apple carplay
My 2007 E70 doesn't have a hard drive but has blue tooth though I haven't tried streaming music. It has an audio socket (not a USB) to connect an auxillary music player.
Driver's seat has 2 memory buttons which can be set to different keys (his and hers?) so that the seat and steering wheel move accordingly when a specific key is used. Passenger seat does not have memory. Memory seats may have been an option at the time.
Remember that in 2010 there were changes to the media package and sat nav system. A 2008 or 2009 model will probably have the old system where the sat nav works off a DVD.

Re: Apple carplay
Thanks Graeme for your post.
I guess it will depend on when the 'right' car comes up on Autotrader which in turn will depict what the spec is etc. I thinking 08-09 plate as a 10 plate I don't think is within our budget with low mileage (under 60k) etc.

Re: Apple carplay
Just my 2 pence worth.. Low mileage is obviously preferred to high mileage in any case. But if you think 10-12K miles per year is considered normal. A 10 year old car would be considered normal with 120K miles.
These cars are great cruisers and built to do the miles. The diesels especially need some good runs. A 10 year old X5 diesel with 30K miles that has only been used for school runs and local shopping trips may actually not be in better mechanical shape than an identical counter part that has done 60k motorway miles. FSH is key.
A higher mileage example thats spent its life under warranty could well likely have been better maintained than a low mileage example without warranty. Like anything there is no tried and tested formula so try not to rule yourself out of missing a good car only due to it being 10K miles over another.

Hi Barroni
You do indeed have a fair point.
My previous second hand BMW which I bought have had low mileage (under 50k). These cars were not cheap when new but given they were 6-9 years old at the time I bought them, the large proportion of the depreciation has already happened. That said you are going to lose money on nearly all cars (excluding collectors cars). I get that. With my budget of approx £17k I want to get a clean car, 2 owners max from new, FSH (a given) and mileage under 60k (sweet spot in the low 40's). I have seen a few pop up on Autotrader so it is just a matter of time before the right comes becomes advertised. ::)
