I will always use Adrian Flux BMW insurance specialists from now on....everyone else I tried wanted well over a grand, some 1.6k when I got my X71 in November...rang Flux £840.

I had the same issue too. I’m now paying around £600 with Aviva but had to get a tracker fitted to get it down to that  >:(

I got the Trackstar which is apparently BMW approved but it set me back around £300 plus around £130 a year.

It was all a massive shock to me as I figured it would only be a little more than the SQ5. How wrong was I.

I refuse to get a tracker, as there’s no way I’d want the thing back if some scrote ever nicked it. I’ll phone Privilege today and see what they have to offer, as I’ve been with them for a couple of years (won’t hold my breath!).

Worst case, £750 isn’t the end of the world, but I haven’t paid anywhere near that for insurance in over 25 years of driving, including several M cars.

I’m still struggling to get my head around why this costs twice as much to insure as a brand new £70k M3!

Yeah I’m with you, I don’t really want the car back after it’s been half inched. I just wanted to not be paying well over £1k a year for insurance!  This is also the most I’ve ever paid for insurance despite a number of Performance cars.

E53’s are a lot less to insure than F15 M50d’s, obviously! :))

I’ve been watching a few YouTube videos on the new X3 M40i, so out of interest got an insurance quote. £279 per year, so nearly a third of the price of the X5. I must admit, I’m tempted to get one and run it for a couple of years while the excitement over the new X5 dies down.

Really sad but my new M50d is due to arrive mid August and insurance comes out at £479......through saga! Age does have the odd advantage!
