Hi,
I have just purchased an X5 2010 4.0d with 86,000 miles on the clock.
The car drives really good, not problem, but the only thing i have noticed is that when the engine is at idle when stationary the steering wheel vibrates.
When driving or when the revs go above idle the vibration disappears.
Is this normal? I haven't had a diesel BMW before, I have owned a 4.8 X5 petrol and a petrol 6 series with no steering wheel vibration.
Thanks for your ideas.

No vibration on my X6 40d at idle either.

Do you have lane departure warning on your car?
Could it be a fault with this?

Thanks for the replies.
The car doesn't have lane assist. Plus it drives and idles fine.
The car doesn't have any problems in driving or when stationary, but the steering wheel vibrates on idle.
I've read that on some X5's 4.8 V8 owners have had problems with the engine mounts. The car is going into BMW for an oil service next month so I'll ask them to take a look.
