35d M Sport

Post by BRY33N » Sun Apr 29, 2018 2:57 pm

Hi all, new on here so please be gentle! Looked at E70 35d yesterday and was surprised by how much engine noise was in the cabin compared to the E53 3.0d sport we have at the moment. Is this normal? E70 has 105k with history and seems to be well looked after. Any help will be welcomed, Bry.

When I changed from my E53 to the E71 I was surprised by the amount of road noise too.  The change to runflats tyres doesn’t help, but it is as if BMW removed a load of sound insulation too.

Oh and :hi:
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I have a 35d

I think there’s more noise overall say compare to my e61 35d

Out of interest how much was the car you’re looking at?

X5 is on the market for £12500. It has a few factory options, so say 5/6k worth, but I’m not that “clued up” about that I’m afraid. Looks lovely, and I need to make a decision on it by 9am today. Update to follow later guys!

Quick update, we are going to continue our search to find the new family wagon, thanks for the replies guys. If anyone is thinking of selling a E70 3.0sd/35d MSport around the 13k mark feel free to drop me a message with details, Bry.

Reason why you passed up on the one you were looking at, any links?

Only asking as ours is similar
But I like ours too much and great spec, one of the longest times we’ve owned a motor

The engine noise was the main reason, a couple of other little “niggles” but that’s me just being picky. Can’t seem to upload link, but the car is on autotrader. Have now driven a friends E70 30sd and that did seem quieter, so still on the hunt. So no chance of you selling then? Anything that you’d say to look out for when viewing/driving?
